Description

Type: Tree, Class: Removal

permit: We would like permission to remove 6 Leyland Cypress Trees that we acquired with our house purchase. The trees were topped at 20 ft and not maintained. They were planted very close together so that their crowns and branches have maxed out the small area allotted. The branches have been a hazard to our neighbor's roof and have been a rodent pathway to both our roofs. We have trimmed back the branches since we have lived here, but it is not enough. These trees should not have been planted in such a small area especially without proper pruning. They are now a hazard and way overgrown. We have received a quote from Bartlett Tree Experts to take down the trees professionally in January if we are permitted by the City of Kirkland. From there, we plan to continue our conversation with In Harmony Sustainable Landscaping to plan for our yard which includes planting more trees that are more suited for our area. I have included our ";tentative plans"; from In Harmony but we will add at least one more significant tree (probably a Red oak (Quercus rubra) cultivar) as recommended by the Arborist. In our plans we currently have Japanese maples as well as other trees planned for planting. The current plans also show the Leyland Cypress Trees that we hope to remove and choose better suited trees for that area. We hope we can move forward with removal of the trees then landscaping. Thank you and let me know if you need anymore information.
