This submittal package is for the smoke control renovation and repair project for Bravern Tower 1. The reason for this smoke control renovation and repair project is that both office towers failed smoke control annual testing.
Significant field testing was performed by United, UMC, Cochran, and Guardian to arrive at the following statement. There was no way to get a code-compliant smoke control system at these towers without modifications to the smoke control system.
As verified during substantial field testing, we are modifying the original smoke control concept design (we are calling it a three-floor zone smoke control system as the original design only was looking for code-compliant pressure differentials for the fire floor and the immediate floors above and below the fire floor) from exhausting the fire floor and pressurizing the immediate floors above and below the fire floors to exhausting (as smoke control relief) the fire floor and the immediate floors above and below the fire floor. We are also modifying and repairing systems as described in this permit submittal.
We have verified via simulated testing at Bravern Towers 1 and 2 that the proposed modifications will produce the modified performance criteria that we are proposing.
We strongly recommend a Teams meeting to review this submittal with Bellevue Fire before a substantial review is conducted by Bellevue Fire. We believe doing this will make the review for Bellevue Fire more efficient, BL 24-129177
