Description

Removal: One dead Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) tree. DSH: 34.5 inches Objective: To retain ecological benefits of the dead/declining tree by retaining a large portion of the main trunk as valuable urban wildlife habitat. Wildlife snags are aesthetic architectural features that add habitat and help maintain ecologic diversity in the urban forest. Specification: -Safely remove and haul away all upper canopy parts -Reduce the height of the main trunk to stand at approximately 8 to 10 feet -Chainsaw the main leads to mimic a natural break and encourage habitat use -Low impact to be made to surrounding properties and landscape Location: -The tree is located in the COB ROW and potentially within the Western Academy of Beaux Arts property: A thin strip of land that runs between the COB ROW and a swath of Beaux Arts Village private properties (including 10521 SE 29th St, Beaux Arts Village). Because of the vagueness of this tree's jurisdiction, a separate tree removal permit for the City of Beaux Arts is being filed for this tree to ensure compliance with all parties.
